Montrose

Located above the Columbia River along Highway 3B east of Trail, Montrose incorporated June 22, 1956. Its population of 1,030 (though the total population of the Lower Columbia (including Fruitvale, Montrose, Trail, Warfield, Rossland and Regional District Kootenay Boundary Areas A and B) totals 19,220) is primarily made up of workers and retirees of nearby Teck Lead-Smelter, Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, Fortis BC, Wal-Mart and other local businesses.
