Regional Innovation Chair

The Regional Innovation Chair in Rural Economic Development (RIC) was formally established on November 15, 2006 to conduct a program of research in rural economic development. The position is supported through an endowment established under the BC Leading Edge Endowment Fund, which included matching funding from non-government sources. George Penfold held the position of Regional Innovation Chair until his retirement in July 2011. Dr. Terri MacDonald assumed the role of Regional Innovation Chair in July 2011.

The work of the RIC is based on regional priorities and on partnerships with local and regional organizations and businesses. The Selkirk Geospatial Research Centre provides complementary expertise, access to data and state-of-the-art GIS and other research tools and skills.
